Christian Orphans Organization - Malawi (COOM) is a registered non-profit organization established in 2016, dedicated to delivering vital child welfare services for orphans and at-risk children in Malawi. Our mission centers on prioritizing the well-being and future of vulnerable children, with a strong emphasis on child protection, educational support for orphans, health, and empowerment. COOM works diligently to meet the holistic needs of orphans, foster parents, and widows through various orphans support programs, advocacy, and skill-building initiatives. Additionally, COOM engages in evangelistic efforts designed to foster moral development and behavior change among children.

To enhance child welfare services and improve the quality of life for orphans, foster parents, and widows, we provide essential resources such as food, shelter, educational support for orphans, health care, and vocational training. Additionally, we advocate for child protection and empower marginalized groups, particularly young girls, to overcome gender discrimination through our orphans support programs.

COOM's strategy is built on a comprehensive, multi-faceted approach that addresses the most pressing needs of orphans and at-risk children in Malawi. Our focus includes educational support for orphans, alongside health, advocacy, and skill development, all integral to our orphans support programs. Our education and skills development efforts are foundational to our work in child welfare services. We offer Early Childhood Development (ECD) programs to lay a strong academic and developmental foundation for young children. COOM also provides crucial educational support for orphans in primary and secondary education, ensuring they have access to school materials, uniforms, and school fees. Additionally, we focus on computer literacy, equipping children with essential technical skills to prepare them for future opportunities. For older orphans and foster parents, we provide vocational training such as sewing programs through our orphans support programs, helping them gain practical skills that foster self-reliance.

Our commitment to health and mental well-being is a cornerstone of our strategy, particularly within our child welfare services. COOM provides psychosocial and physical therapy to support the mental and emotional health of children, addressing trauma and other challenges they encounter. Furthermore, our educational support for orphans, including school feeding programs, ensures that orphans receive daily meals, promoting their physical development and enhancing their learning experience through our orphans support programs.

In the area of empowerment and advocacy, COOM is dedicated to reducing gender discrimination and increasing access to educational support for orphans, particularly focusing on young girls to empower them to achieve their full potential.
